Marion Steff
Marion Steff is a disability and inclusion specialist who has successfully managed teams, conducted research and delivered services in various settings, including institutions of higher education. She was trained at McGill University, where she earned a PhD in Educational Psychology, with a major in Special Populations of Learners. Dr Steff was the first volunteer of AHED to go abroad. She co-managed the Center for Disabilities Studies and Services at the University Sunan Kalijaga (Indonesia), in partnership with the director. On the strength of this experience, she was contracted by the World Bank to lead a study on “Equity and Access to Tertiary Education for Students with Disabilities in Indonesia”.
In the past, Dr. Steff has actively developed and implemented strategies to respond to the needs of people with disabilities in a range of roles and contexts. Some of her career highlights include serving as the coordinator of the “Intellectual Disability, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and Intersectorality” research team; a teacher for students with emotional and intellectual disabilities at Summit School; the director of the “Daily activity for young adults with severe or profound intellectual disabilities” program at Sherbrooke University; a research assistant promoting the inclusion of women and children with various disabilities in the community; and a volunteer for the West Montreal Readaptation Center and for Handicap International advocating for the human rights of people with disabilities. Dr. Steff is presently working at Services de Réadaptation L’Intégrale.
