Institutions of higher education provide the trained personnel

• to teach in the schools, to treat the sick, and to prevent diseases through immunization
• to administor the school system, the health care services, and immunization programmes
• to connect through the internet to the world and access its limitless fund of information
• to design and build the roads, dams, water systems, schools and airports
• to start and run the businesses that are the foundations of a country’s economic life
• to improve the quality of life of the marginalized, including women, aids victims, the disabled, and minorities
• to improve agricultural capacity and sustainability
• to protect the environment.
