Financial Package

Financial support is available for joint projects with CUSO - VSO and AUF and for AHED-UPESED’s own projects.

CUSO - VSO’s Financial Package

Below is CUSO - VSO’s standard financial package, which will be modified according to the length of the project and your individual needs.

  • Assistance with travel costs to a CUSO - VSO assessment day (Candidates must cover the first $100 of travel costs and all accommodation costs)
  • Travel and accommodation costs associated with pre-departure training
  • Return airfare and visa/permit (this includes a return flight in the case of a family emergency)
  • Pre-departure allowance of up to CDN $650
  • Coverage for required vaccinations and comprehensive health insurance
  • Accommodation while overseas
  • A modest living allowance, which varies depending on the country where you are working
  • In-service grant of approximately CDN $700 mid-way through your placement and quarterly allowances of $300 to a North American bank account
  • Resettlement grant of approximately CDN $3,800 to help you resettle

CUSO - VSO Short Term Placements

  • Assistance with approved travel costs to a CUSO - VSO assessment day (candidates must cover the first $100 of the most cost-effective travel expenses and all accommodation costs)
  • Travel and accommodation costs associated with pre-departure training
  • Return airfare and visa/permit (this includes a return flight in the case of a family emergency)
  • Coverage for required vaccinations and comprehensive health insurance
  • Accommodation while overseas
  • A modest living allowance, which varies depending on the country where you are working

AUF’s Financial Package

This varies with the type of AUF programme.

For faculty invited by a university in the developing world it includes:

For retired faculty members, it includes the items above, except for the living allowance, which is extended only to retired faculty who are originally from a developing country.

For faculty member from a developing country, AUF gives a grant up to a maximum of 4000 € to cover expenses.

For AHED - UPESED/AUF, joint projects AHED - UPESED will arrange for the local institution to pay a local salary and to provide housing, if it is possible for it to do so.

AHED – UPESED’s Financial Package

AHED – UPESED will provide the following financial aid for volunteers:

If the host institution is not able to cover accommodations and/or a local salary, AHED – UPESED will provide a stipend to defray some of these expenses.

AHED – UPESED welcomes charitable donations for the expenses not provided by the host institution in return for a tax receipt. If you wish to consider this alternative, we would be happy to discuss it with you.
